Beaumont, Riverside County
Beaumont sits at the summit of the San Gorgonio Pass, about 2,600 feet up, between the two highest mountains in Southern California. The town incorporated in 1912, when apple and cherry orchards covered the surrounding benches. Cherries are still grown just north of the city, and Beaumont has held a Cherry Festival in most years for more than a century.
